AIMS 2013 – Mineral Resources and Mine Development

When: Wednesday, May 22, 2013 – 00:00 to Thursday, May 23, 2013 – 00:00
Where: Aachen, Germany

The Institute of Mining Engineering I at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany has been holding symposia on topics concerning mineral raw materials supply and mining for more than 15 years under the title Aachen International Mining Symposia. Since the first AIMS conference on Rockbolting in Mining in the year 1987, the Symposium has become a regular meeting of international mining and minerals experts.

Industrialized countries’ economies heavily rely on the continuous supply of mineral raw materials. The mining sector world-wide has to improve the mining processes, the technology and the efficiency to cope with the increasing demand of the industrialized countries as well as the emerging markets. This goes hand in hand with addressing the global challenge of sustainable development in mining.

Consequently the Symposium on Mineral Resources and Mine Development focuses on two interacting thematic areas – mining processes and technology as well as sustainable development of mineral resources.

Thus, the first thematic area of the Symposium – MINE DEVELOPMENT – focuses on the physical development of mining projects

  • Mine Planning, Organization and Logistic
  • Continuous Mining Technologies for Hard-Rock Applications
  • Machine Technology and Equipment
  • Operational Experiences
  • Future Technological Options
  • Mining Processes and Resource Efficiency

Additionally, the second thematic area of AIMS 2013 – MINERAL RESOURCES – focuses on sustainable development and supply of mineral resources and related topics:

  • Mining Policies, Strategies and Concepts
  • Mineral Resources Management and Supply Situation (incl. Critical Raw Materials)
  • Legal Aspects, Permits and Financing
  • Environmental Challenges and Approaches
  • Views, Statements and Needs of Governments, Sectors and Enterprises

We expect approximately 350 delegates from all over the world, so you can look forward to meeting senior representatives and decision makers of governments, industry, research institutions, investment communities, suppliers of the minerals and mining industry and related fields.

Against the background of the imperial city of Aachen, both the exhibition at the conference venue and the dinner party in the historical Aula Carolina will offer ample opportunity to make new contacts and renew old ones.

The AIMS 2013 Symposium will be sponsored by Caterpillar® and Minova CarboTech GmbH.
