Barytes

Barite is a white, grey, yellow, blue, red, or colourless mineral consisting of barium sulfate.
The majority of world production is consumed by the oil and gas drilling industry as a component in drilling muds.

Barite is also important in the manufacture of paper, glass and rubber. It is widely used in other applications: in radiology for x-rays, in acoustical compounds, adhesives, athletic goods, carpet backing, as primer in automotive paints for metal protection and gloss or as protective barrier to radiation in cathode ray tube TV faceplate glass.
