Manganese
Manganese metal is the fourth most widely consumed metal after
iron, aluminium and copper. 90% of the world's manganese ore
production (metallurgical grade) is consumed by the steel
industry, mainly in the form of ferromanganese or silico-manganese.
Most of the remaining 10% (chemical grade) is used as chemical
dioxide for the manufacture of dry batteries, and a very small
percentage as chemical additives in paints, brick colouring,
fertilisers and pet feed.
