“Mineral Resources and Mine Development”
- managing today’s resources - securing tomorrow’s supply

26 - 27 May 2010
Aachen, Germany

In order to safeguard tomorrow's supply of minerals a strategy for sustainable management of mineral resources will have to answer the following questions:

  • Which minerals?
  • How much of these?
  • Where do we get them?

Apart from these general issues the practical aspect of mine development will have to consider the issue:

    • How do we get them?

The first thematic area of this Symposium – Mineral Resources (and their management) – addresses the following topics:

  • Identification of critical raw materials
  • Demand and possible supply of critical raw materials
  • Risk management with regard to a secure supply
  • Views, statements and needs of governments, sectors and enterprises
  • Successful policies, strategies and concepts for a safe minerals supply
  • Management of mineral resources

The second thematic area of AIMS 2010 – Mine Development – focuses not only on the physical development of mining projects but also on preparatory and supporting issues:

  • Planning, Organisation, Logistics
  • Financing
  • Operational Experiences (Shaft-sinking, Roadheading, Surface Mine Development)
  • Machine Technology and Equipment
  • Legal Aspects and Permits
  • Environmental Issues

We expect about 370 participants and 30 exhibitors from all over the world to participate to this Symposium.
