In order to safeguard tomorrow's supply of minerals a strategy for sustainable management of mineral resources will have to answer the following questions:
- Which minerals?
- How much of these?
- Where do we get them?
Apart from these general issues the practical aspect of mine development will have to consider the issue:
The first thematic area of this Symposium – Mineral Resources (and their management) – addresses the following topics:
- Identification of critical raw materials
- Demand and possible supply of critical raw materials
- Risk management with regard to a secure supply
- Views, statements and needs of governments, sectors and enterprises
- Successful policies, strategies and concepts for a safe minerals supply
- Management of mineral resources
The second thematic area of AIMS 2010 – Mine Development – focuses not only on the physical development of mining projects but also on preparatory and supporting issues:
- Planning, Organisation, Logistics
- Financing
- Operational Experiences (Shaft-sinking, Roadheading, Surface Mine Development)
- Machine Technology and Equipment
- Legal Aspects and Permits
- Environmental Issues
We expect about 370 participants and 30 exhibitors from all over the world to participate to this Symposium.
